For me, momentum is the power and energy of a moment, whether in dynamic movement or deep stillness. It is when time seems to stand still, capturing the essence of a scene or action in its purest form. In my art, momentum means seizing this fleeting moment and giving it a lasting presence.
I selected sports images because they encapsulate the vibrant energy of sports in a single frame. They freeze the beauty of movement while conveying the intensity of breath, the flight of sweat droplets, and the effort of athletes. These images pause the action, allowing us to appreciate the finer details.
In addition, street pictures fascinate me with the contrast between the hustle and bustle of the city and the almost stagnant loneliness. I enjoy capturing the pace of urban life through images that convey dynamism using double exposure. This technique allows me to create the impression of peering through a keyhole, freezing the scene amid its movement.
On the other hand, I love the contrast with the calm of a slow scene - be it a person coming out of a corner shop or sitting alone in a sidewalk cafe. These moments of thought and reflection are the true momentum for me.
My advice to aspiring artists is to embrace the opportunities presented by AI technology while also honing their foundational skills in traditional art.
