“The ViewBoard IFP6550 display is a game-changer for Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera. It’s allowed us to take our tactical match analysis to a whole new level with interactive graphics and real-time engagement with viewers. It’s a fantastic tool that’s truly transformed the way we present the beautiful game.”

— Marcelo Burgos, Sports Reporter, Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Modernize the TV broadcast after 20 years on the air

Previously, Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera relied on a static, third-party managed display for match analysis. This limited their ability to dynamically interact with graphics during the show. Reporters and guests were stuck using pre-loaded graphs, unable to make live modifications to explain plays in detail.

To address this limitation, the program sought a more versatile solution. Ideally, the new system would allow for real-time analysis of tactics discussed by the panelists, alongside the ability to engage with viewer comments live.

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewBoard IFP6550 65” interactive display

  • myViewBoard software

The soccer show required a screen that offered greater interactivity. This meant analysts and guests could visually represent concepts by:

  • Creating on-the-fly graphics: Examples, situations, and plays could be drawn live.
  • Modifying player positions: Players could be added, removed, and repositioned on the field to illustrate strategies.

The ViewSonic® ViewBoard® IFP6550 interactive display became a game-changer. With the included myViewBoard® software, reporters can now easily sketch tactics, strategies, and match analyses directly on the screen at the end of each program. This eliminates the previous limitations of static pre-loaded graphics and allows for dynamic interaction, deletion, and recapture of ideas.

Furthermore, the program’s interactivity extends beyond the on-screen graphics. Viewers can participate by sending live messages through Instagram, X and WhatsApp. These messages are displayed directly on the screen, allowing the hosts to read and respond live, creating a much more dynamic and engaging experience.

“The ViewSonic IFP6550 display is a game-changer for Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera,” said Marcelo Burgos, a sports reporter for the program. “It’s allowed us to take our tactical match analysis to a whole new level with interactive graphics and real-time engagement with viewers. It’s a fantastic tool that’s truly transformed the way we present the beautiful game.”

The IFP6550 display breathed new life into Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera. This interactive touchscreen display transformed the show into a dynamic and participatory experience. Viewers are no longer passive observers; they can now actively engage with the program.

Marcos Paredes, ViewSonic’s Territory Manager for Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, expressed his satisfaction with the project. “We’re thrilled to have provided our IFP6550 Interactive Displays for Los Analistas del Fútbol de Primera,” he said. “At ViewSonic, we’re committed to delivering user-friendly solutions that empower our customers to achieve their goals.”

“Given the type of work we do, detail is critical. The ViewSonic Direct View LED display delivers the crystal-clear images our engineers need to showcase project plans and spreadsheets to customers. The brightness and color are also outstanding. We haven’t heard anything negative about the screen. Everything they throw at it presents well.”

— Guy Coria, CSI Director of IT

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Replace outdated projection system

  • Upgrade conference room for VIP customers

The CSI Solar Group conference room had been causing headaches for years. Along with an aging projector system, the original installed equipment never quite worked as intended. More than one AV company failed to find a solution, and the patience (and money) to chase a fix ran out. Things changed when the company began working with larger customers on bigger projects.

“Our business in Solar took off, and we began getting bigger projects and more customers,” said David Pelayo, CSI director of HR and technology. “The budget for this division increased, and our new AV partner Avidex finally figured out the problem.”

At that point, said Pelayo, the team decided to change up the technology entirely. With a bigger budget to work with, and huge solar farm companies looking to partner with them, the decision was made to install a large LED screen as the room’s visual focal point.

“We wanted to create a conference room that reflected the size and scope of the business,” said Pelayo. “Avidex presented us with options and LED displays in the 86-inch to 98-inch size range were the sweet spot in terms of price.”

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic 135-inch Direct View LED display

Among the brands under consideration, the team gravitated toward the ViewSonic® CDE9830 98-inch commercial display. Not only did it offer everything needed to easily support content sharing and collaboration, they were familiar with the brand.

“We began purchasing ViewSonic monitors for our employees about two years ago,” said Guy Coria, CSI director of IT. “The price of our existing brand had gone up, and the quality had declined. The other brand we looked at didn’t perform to our standards. The ViewSonic desktop monitors did.”

Employees have been very satisfied with the ViewSonic monitors, said Coria, adding that feedback on the color and clarity had been particularly positive.

“Because we knew ViewSonic is a great brand in terms of quality, performance and price, we reached out to them to look at their large conference room displays,” said Ruben Estrada, CSI network administrator. “When we got to the ViewSonic showroom and saw the Direct View LED display, we all fell in love with it and didn’t want to consider anything else.”

It wasn’t just bigger, added Pelayo, the ViewSonic 135” Direct View LED display was ideal for creating a high-impact space for the Solar Group to hold its most important customer meetings. It further provided an all-in-one solution with easier front-of-screen maintenance, along with outstanding color and detail.

RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • The sleek display provides an upscale, modern look

  • Content is crisp and clear, including spreadsheets and CAD drawings

  • Feedback from users has been universally positive

At over a year since the ViewSonic Direct View LED display was installed, the team has heard nothing but positive feedback from the Solar Group users.

“Given the type of work we do, detail is critical. The ViewSonic Direct View LED display delivers the crystal-clear images our engineers need to showcase project plans and spreadsheets to customers,” said Coria. “The brightness and color are also outstanding. We haven’t heard anything negative about the screen. Everything they throw at it presents well.”

As is typical with AV installations, there were a few bumps along the way. A few parts were delayed, pushing back the initial timeframe; a panel was installed upside down; and the color matrix required adjusting.

“We’re very meticulous, and we asked to have the color coordination adjusted,” said Pelayo. “The ViewSonic tech team came in and dialed it in really well. They were terrific to work with.”

All in all, the installation process went smoothly, the team agreed, including righting the upside-down panel.

“We used the vacuum tool to remove and re-insert panels,” said Pelayo. “We were nervous at first about damaging them, but they’re actually very durable and resilient. It was easy to do.”

Looking back over the experience, the CSI technical and IT team concluded that ViewSonic lived up to its brand reputation, both in product quality and customer experience.

“Our ViewSonic rep, Steve Rodriguez, is a great guy and worked with us closely to ensure that our needs were met,” said Pelayo. “Whether it’s desktop monitors or big-screen conference room displays, the ViewSonic products we’ve tested and used are top-notch.”

ViewSonic Elevates Event Experience for Bankstown Sports Group with 135” Mobile Direct View LED Display Solution Kit

COMPANY

Bankstown Sports Group is a leading actor in Sydney’s hospitality industry. With over 100,000 active members and 13 dining and entertainment venues, it recently opened the Lady Banks Rooftop, a new premium rooftop bar with panoramic views over the city’s skyline.

“We wanted something that could be moved in different locations. We had never seen anything like the ViewSonic All-in-One Direct View LED Display Solution Kit before. When we walked past and saw someone folding the screen – we knew it was the right one for us.”

— Joseph Succar, IT Manager at Bankstown Sports Group

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Offer a unique viewing experience of the Melbourne Cup Race to establish the Lady Banks Rooftop as a local key venue

  • Accommodate different spaces within the rooftop bar, and other locations for events, without permanently installing display equipment in each

  • Set up and operation of the display needs to be handled by the staff to save cost, time, and effort

The Lady Banks Rooftop opened in October 2022. In a complex time for the hospitality industry, Bankstown Sports Group was looking to establish its new rooftop as a key venue in the Southwest Sydney area by hosting a public viewing of the Melbourne Cup Race, one of Australia’s biggest sports events.

The Lady Banks Rooftop features an open-plan space with both indoor and outdoor seating. As the bar is bathed with lots of natural light, using a traditional projector or a large TV screen to broadcast the event would provide poor visibility and a negative viewing experience. Moreover, the venue manager didn’t want to disturb the arrangement of the space with a fixed installation as it would only be used on special occasions.

Since it already regularly hosts events, Bankstown Sports Group preferred to avoid expensive rental equipment. It was looking for a display solution that could be installed easily, at will, without requiring external installers, while still providing an outstanding viewing experience.

THE SOLUTION

  • The ViewSonic® LDS135-151 is a 135” All-in-One Direct View LED Display Solution Kit offering instant use and an outstanding audio-visual experience

  • The screen can be folded to save space, making it easier to move, store, and securely transport in the included flight case

  • Wireless content sharing enables quick and seamless multimedia broadcasts without the need for additional equipment

After careful consideration, Bankstown Sports Group decided to invest in a ViewSonic® LDS135-151 All-in-One Direct View LED Display Solution Kit. Boasting a 135” display, this ready-to-use solution is designed to provide large audiences with a big-screen experience. With all components integrated into the device, the display can be operated by anyone without requiring extensive training, sparing time and effort. With its foldable screen and omnidirectional wheels, the LDS135-151 can easily be moved within a room. Delivered pre-assembled in a flight case, it is convenient to transport between floors or from one location to another. The 135” frameless screen provides outstanding luminosity and true-to-life colors, enhanced by the greater visibility offered by the array of LEDs. Broadcasting sports games or shows only takes seconds thanks to the built-in OS and Wi-Fi, enabling wireless content sharing without the need for any additional equipment.

  • The LDS135-151, the first foldable All-in-One Direct View LED display in Australia, enchanted guests and made the event a huge success

  • The solution kit has since been used at different Bankstown Sports Group venues, with set up and operation handled with ease by the staff

  • When not used during events, the marketing team promotes upcoming shows and activities on the screen

The LDS135-151 All-in-One Direct View LED Display Solution Kit helped make the Lady Banks Rooftop event a huge success. Unfolding the screen just when the race was about to start elicited surprised gasps from the guests. The huge display enabled all attendees to experience a live broadcast like never before. This exceptional viewing experience helped establish the Lady Banks Rooftop as a premium venue.

After the success of the first public viewing at the Lady Banks Rooftop, Bankstown Sports Group could easily transport the solution kit to other venues and use it while hosting other events, such as the FIFA World Cup games. During sporting downtimes, the marketing team would repurpose the Direct View LED display to promote upcoming events. Considering all the advantages the display provides for both event hosting and marketing efforts, Bankstown Sports Group is currently planning on acquiring more units for its other venues, including larger wall-mounted All-in-One Direct View LED displays.

— Destin Echols, RJ Young Technology Solutions Architect

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Meet customers’ changing needs for interacting and working with more distributed workforces

  • Provide interactive meeting and video conferencing technology that was compatible with Microsoft Teams Rooms to support the needs of remote workers

  • Have products on hand and installed at its own headquarters for demonstration purposes

Founded in 1955, RJ Young was an established leader in delivering copiers and printers – along with a “We Make It RightTM” guarantee – to businesses across the southeastern United States. In 2020, the company and its customers alike found themselves suddenly inhabiting a changed business landscape.

“When Covid hit, everything shifted for us and for our customers,” said Destin Echols, RJ Young Technology Solutions Architect. “Our customers needed support to do business with a much more distributed workforce. To our leadership’s credit, they took a hard look at our customers’ business needs and how they were changing, and determined what we could do to meet those evolving needs.”

The ability to effectively connect, communicate, and interact with remote workers had become a major pain point for RJ Young’s customers. A critical part of the company’s new focus was the need to be able to provide interactive meeting and video conferencing technology to support the needs of remote workers.

“Now we had to quickly pivot to respond to the sudden changes and challenges that our customers faced,” said Echols. “Interactivity was going to be key. Everyone was already accustomed to the interactivity offered by their smartphones and iPads. We wanted to deliver that to our customers in a way that would facilitate collaborative in-person meetings, and as well as bring together remote and on-site participants.”

THE SOLUTION

  • Implementation of ViewSonic® ViewBoard interactive displays into its product lineup

  • Responsive and packed with features, ViewBoard displays were also intuitive, easy to use, and had a great price tag

  • The 105-inch 21:9 ViewBoard IFP105S was installed at RJ Young headquarters in Nashville, TN – becoming the country’s first installation of this groundbreaking product

Before taking on the role of Technology Solutions Architect at the RJ Young Corporate Office in Nashville, Echols had worked in technology for a decade. That experience led him and his team to question how RJ Young customers would benefit with this type of technology.

Around that time, Echols met ViewSonic Channel Account Manager, Matt Hurley, who showed him the ViewSonic line of ViewBoard® interactive flat panel (IFP) displays.

“We were very impressed with the ViewSonic ViewBoard displays, which were responsive and packed with features, while also being intuitive, easy to use, and having a great price tag,” said Echols. “As we worked with ViewSonic, we became even more impressed with the way they do business. The support they offer is outstanding. In the early days, we had a massive learning curve, and when we had questions, someone at ViewSonic always picked up the phone and had answers for us.”

RJ Young made the decision to partner with ViewSonic to fulfill its customers’ display needs, including commercial displays, digital signage, interactive displays, desktop monitors, and projectors. The rest, as they say, is history.

“Our partnership with ViewSonic is over the top,” said Echols. “The product is good, if not better, than what else is available and at an outstanding price point. ViewSonic also had the support, quick turnaround, and good relationships that we wanted to allow us to quickly satisfy our customers’ needs.”

  • ViewBoard displays provided interactivity and visibility for customers’ virtual meetings

  • myViewBoard software made it easy to manage ViewSonic displays across the entire region

  • Ultimately decided to partner with ViewSonic to fulfill its customers’ complete display needs, including commercial displays, digital signage, interactive displays, desktop monitors, and projectors

During the work-at-home days of the Covid pandemic, adding ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive displays to the RJ Young lineup proved to be a wise decision.

“It was easy to show our customers how the ViewBoard displays could help them navigate the changing business landscape,” said Echols. “Not only did the displays provide interactivity and visibility for virtual meetings, they were also a logical extension to the way business had been evolving pre-pandemic.”

“I tell my customers that the ViewBoard interactive display is a common-sense extension of how they already do things, and it all revolves around interactivity,” he said. “Everyone is on a cell phone, which you can show to one or two people. The next step up from that is an iPad or a touchscreen PC, but you’re still limited to the few people that can gather around and see it. The natural extension, if you want five, 10, or more people to see and interact with content, is to throw it onto a giant TV touchscreen.”

Most of the time, his customers say, ‘Yes! That makes sense. That’s exactly what I want!’

Today, RJ Young is both a ViewSonic reseller and customer. The company has installed solutions for their customers using virtually every model in every category of ViewSonic product. They also rely on ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive displays to facilitate meetings in their own conference rooms.

“Every one of our 30-plus offices has at least one ViewSonic CDE display and one ViewBoard interactive display,” said Echols. “The quality and interactivity provide amazing functionality for our all-hands meetings, sales meetings, and breakout sessions. Also, we love the myViewBoard software, which makes it easy to manage our ViewSonic displays across the entire region.”

Echols can easily troubleshoot any situation using the myViewBoard ManagerTM software.

“I can turn on their conference room display – no matter where it is – add a welcome screen with the company’s logo, drop in any other content they need,” he said. “We don’t have to send our IT resources, and no one has to worry about whether there’s someone tech savvy in office. We can remotely manage the device, and it’s been fantastic for us.”

The duality of being a ViewSonic customer and reseller comes in handy.

“It’s ideal to have the products in use and available to demo,” said Echols. “If a customer comes in and asks to see the technology we’ve installed for other customers, we can simply take them to our conference room.”

The most recent installation is the 105-inch ViewBoard IFP105S interactive display with ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio. To showcase this flagship product and gain its ultra-wide benefits for themselves, RJ Young installed this 105-inch 21:9 ViewBoard in the conference room at their Nashville headquarters.

“I’m proud to say that our conference room was the first US installation of this groundbreaking product, and we have been thrilled with how much the added screen real estate has increased visibility and efficiency in our meetings,” said Echols. “The ability to cast multiple devices for collaboration and have a picture-in-picture view with different sources is extremely handy when checking jobs and designs against alternate versions. The annotation and tools are invaluable when we are marking up plans, doing systems designs, troubleshooting with customers, and when working internally on any number of tasks from HR to marketing.”

“We often work in collaboration with customers to review building plans, work out locations for their equipment, and show them how it will function in their space,” said Echols. “We use the 105-inch ViewBoard display to work with the customer to design their ideal office space and working environment, and the fact that we are using the same technology at our office speaks volumes.” Soon after their own installation, RJ Young brought the ultra-wide interactivity of the 105-inch ViewBoard display to several customers.

“For us and for our customers, the ViewSonic ViewBoard displays are an outstanding standalone meeting platform,” said Echols. “The 105-inch ultra- wide model takes it to a whole new level, with added space for more effective viewing and content organization, along with support for the Microsoft Teams Room Front Row layout, which delivers a natural and efficient digital meeting experience.”

APPENDIX

Additional ViewSonic Solutions from RJ Young

While ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive displays are the most popular products among his customers, Echols noted that RJ Young has provided customers with solutions using pretty much every product made by ViewSonic. These range from desktop monitors and conference room displays of all types and sizes, to digital signage, and massive Direct View LED displays, and their customers couldn’t be happier with the results.

“Feedback from customers about their ViewSonic products has been excellent,” said Echols. “I recently installed ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive displays and CDE commercial displays using myViewBoard Manager for a large non-profit company, and they just called saying that they wished they had done this installation sooner.”

Of course, he added, as with any supplier, there have been small and infrequent mishaps, like a product damaged in shipping, or the time a board arrived from the factory with a problem. Both were blips on the radar, with ViewSonic immediately replacing the products and making things right.

“We’ve never had a problem that resulted in an unhappy customer,” he said. “ViewSonic is always there for us, making sure our customers are satisfied.”

With ViewSonic’s many product lines to work with, Echols said that he enjoys offering customers everything from basic conference room setups to, “how creative do you want to get?” installations.

Recently, he worked on several projects that made use of the ViewSonic CDE30 commercial displays, which allow for vertical orientation. In one project, the company asked RJ Young to install three displays in a vertical array that ended up looking like windows on a cruise ship. At a local courthouse, Echols helped his customer develop a solution that would segment the content to be seen by the judge, jury, or audience, which included two ViewSonic 65-inch CDE6530 commercial displays hung from the celling to provide the judge with a private view of content. Another display was hung facing the audience, while a ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive display was used to mirror court documents and facilitate zoom calls.

Another recent and “really cool” installation Echols facilitated was for Lenoir- Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.

“The auditorium had concave walls, which made things tricky. We ended up putting a ViewSonic projector in the center with two ViewSonic 135-inch All-in- One Direct View LED displays on either side,” Echols said. “We made a custom frame to straighten out the wall behind the Direct View LED displays, which ViewSonic helped with quite a bit. Content could be programmed to flow from one side to the other, across all three sections, for example showing a wave crashing across them. It was stunning.”

Three years into the partnership, RJ Young has installed ViewSonic products across most of the industries it serves, including higher education, enterprise, and retail. Along with the certainty that ViewSonic hardware will deliver the quality, features, performance, and longevity to fully meet their customers’ needs, Echols said that ViewSonic’s myViewBoard Manager software has been a boon to customer satisfaction.

“We know from our own experience how beneficial the myViewBoard Manager is for remote management of a suite of displays,” said Echols. “We believe in it so much that we include it in every relevant quote, making it an opt-out scenario for customers.”

Ultimately, what makes the partnership with ViewSonic stand out, is the company’s unparalleled service and support, said Echols.

“In every way, before, during, and after a sale, ViewSonic fully supports us,” said Echols. “Matt Hurley is one hundred percent a full member of our team. He joins us at conferences and on customer calls. He does training with us – such as when a customer’s team isn’t sure how to use a display after an installation – and he’s available every day for us. We also get great professional development support for our education customers from ViewSonic folks specialized in that area.”

Circling back to where it all started, Echols recalls that when everything changed in 2020, the team at ViewSonic was integral to helping them quickly acclimate.

“It was all new to us, and we didn’t quite know what we were doing,” he said. “We had to figure out what parts and pieces we need to go with which types of installations. ViewSonic walked us through it all and made sure we had what we needed. They even helped us get in place our systems and people that we needed to support their product lines.”

Because of this support, Echols noted, his company has been able to extend their “Make It Right” guarantee to ViewSonic product installations.

“Part of our history with copiers was our ‘We Make It Right’ guarantee,” he said. “If someone on our team messes something up, we’re going to fix it. If there’s a problem, we’re going to fix it. Because of the support ViewSonic has extended to us on the technology side and on the back end, we’re able to offer this same guarantee for our AV hardware and software.”

— Jose Monge Jr, Red Rider Program Coordinator for American Honda Motor Co.

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Add brand impact at events with mobile digital signage

  • Improve the visual quality of performance reviews

A newer version of motocross (MX), Supercross (SX) brings dirt bike racing indoors, delivering high-energy stadium events with an easy view of the action. Seven manufacturers currently create the motorcycles that compete in the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Supercross Championship, which consists of 17 rounds held in venues across the U.S. and Canada. At each event, brands vie for attention from fans in sold-out stadiums. Each motorcycle maker sponsors a team, and the riders themselves are one of the biggest marketing platforms.

To further showcase the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and the Honda Motorsports brand, Team Honda highlights its pit and riders with retractable fabric banners in the arena. Recently, a fan with insight into digital signage proposed an enhancement, while also suggesting an improvement to the team’s performance review system.

“We bring a team trailer truck to the events and after warm ups, qualifiers, and races the coaches sit with the riders and review their performance,” said Red Rider Program Coordinator for American Honda Motor Co. Jose Monge Jr. “It’s just like any premier-level sport, like football players going over their plays.”

To enable this rapid, on-site review, Team Honda staff haul monitors and video equipment to each event. The quality of those monitors, they were to discover, could make a notable difference.

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic CDE5010 50-inch digital display with 4K Ultra HD resolution

  • ViewSonic ELITE™ XG320Q 32-inch 1440p gaming monitors with 175Hz (OC) refresh rate and 0.5ms (MPRT) response time, PureXP motion blur reduction and 99% sRGB coverage and 99% Adobe coverage

An unexpected encounter introduced Team Honda to new ways to improve both their on-site messaging and digital performance reviews.

Many Supercross fans like to enhance race day with a pit pass, which allows them to mingle with riders, mechanics, and motorcycles, and experience the energy that surrounds Supercross competition. This was where Monge and his team met Jeff Volpe, President of ViewSonic Americas.

“He saw the monitors we were using to review practice rounds and introduced himself,” said Monge. “He told us, ‘I’m in the monitor business and our monitors can do a better job for you than what you’re using now.’”

Volpe recommended the ViewSonic ELITE™ XG320Q 32-inch gaming monitor, which delivers ultra-smooth images, rapid response time, and a wide color gamut ideal for viewing the intricacies of fast-paced Supercross rides.

Next, Volpe suggested that Team Honda try a rolling promotion to draw attention to both companies’ brands, using two ViewSonic CDE5010 displays housed in weather-proof rolling cases.

Jeff is a terrific Supercross fan,” said Monge. “He’s enthusiastic about Honda racing and we were thrilled to implement his ideas.”

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Performance review visuals are more crisp, clear, and vibrant, with no lag or ghosting

The 2023 AMA Supercross Championship series began on January 7th at the Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Among the excitement and hype, the HRC riders and Team Honda support staff spent many more serious moments reviewing warm ups on the new ViewSonic monitors. Later, between the qualifiers and heats, the performance reviews became even more critical. The visuals, said Monge, were noticeably better.

“Right away it was clear from looking at them that these are premium monitors,” said Monge. “The images are very crisp and clear; it also helps for us that they’re lighter weight, since we move them around a lot.”

The vibrant 50-inch displays in their rolling cases paired perfectly with the energy-filled scene. A video loop ran an alternating series of Honda Powersports and ViewSonic messaging, along with a QR code linking to the “ViewSonic-Honda Gear Up Giveaway” prize lottery.

“It was a big improvement over what we were doing in the past, which was a simple fabric banner,” said Monge. “The ViewSonic display was much more attention-grabbing. At every event people would go up to it and see what it’s all about.”

The display accompanied Monge and the HRC team to each of the 17 Supercross rounds that year, running for upwards of eight hours each day. The displays and cases held up beautifully, said Monge, even in the occasional rainy weather they encountered.

The season wrapped up on Saturday, May 13th at the Salt Lake City Rice-Eccles Stadium, with Team Honda rider Chase Sexton taking the number one spot, giving Honda its first Supercross Championship in 20 years. A coincidence perhaps, but the crystal-clear performance reviews and added audience hype brought by the ViewSonic displays couldn’t have hurt.

Splitsville Delivers a 21st Century Entertainment Experience Using ViewSonic® Large Format Displays and Projectors

PROFILE

Splitsville Entertainment is an expanding Canadian chain of bowling and entertainment centers that provide an innovative, immersive experience for patrons. The Splitsville concept was created in 2006 with a mission to transform bowling into an engaging entertainment-focused experience that would attract the interest of a younger, tech-savvy customer base. The strategy was to acquire, update, and manage bowling venues that had fallen out of favor with the public. Since its inception, Splitsville has opened four locations in Ontario and British Columbia, making it the largest chain of bowling and entertainment centers in Canada. A cornerstone of the revamped entertainment concept has been Splitsville’s significant investment in high-end display and HD projection technologies from ViewSonic.

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Find a way to draw younger audiences and drive more revenue for bowling alley venues

  • Improve the overall entertainment experience through digital technology innovation

The bowling landscape in Canada has undergone significant changes over the years. During that time, it’s lost its appeal for many sectors of the population.

Many people have images of bowling alleys as throwbacks to a decades-old past, says Pat Haggerty, president, Splitsville Entertainment Center. “The typical impression was a place characterized by smelly shoes, unpleasant noise, and ugly shirts.”

Revenues have taken a hit. From the 1960s to the 1980s, bowling revenues came from four areas: corporate teams, birthday parties, open playing, and leagues. During that period, up to 85% of bowling lane revenue was generated from bowling leagues. With the societal shift to home entertainment, the number of registered bowling leagues has dropped dramatically.

“Once entertainment technology came on the scene, leagues shrunk to one-tenth of their original size and technology started to come into play,” Haggerty says.

Shifting demographics have also played their part. As millennials surpass baby boomers in numbers, interest in bowling as a source of entertainment has declined. For Splitsville, that was a wakeup call, Haggerty says. “Millennials carry the money and are much more tech-savvy. We knew that with that shift, bowling had to do something completely different to survive.”

To attract an entirely new generation, Haggerty says they needed to create an attention-grabbing digital and immersive experience. “The question we needed to answer was: How can we communicate to this large group of consumers and turn bowling into an entertainment experience?”

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic CDE Full HD 1080p large format displays

  • ViewSonic Full HD 1080p projector systems

In 2006, Splitsville embarked on a mission to shatter stereotypes and attract a new generation of bowlers to the scene. This major renovation project included leveraging the latest and greatest display technology to create a multi-faceted entertainment experience. The goal was to create an audio-visual extravaganza throughout each facility, from the bowling lanes to the lounges and party rooms.

To accomplish this, Splitsville invested more than $1 million into each installation project. A key factor in the decision to purchase commercial grade displays was the desire to ensure top picture quality and a longer life.

The ultimate solution included ViewSonic product in the following areas:

  • Bowling lanes - Each bowling center features from 16 to 34 bowling lanes. These lanes are divided into zones of six, each of which was outfitted with 10 X 12 foot ViewSonic CDE series (commercial grade) drop-down displays that can be programmed to play different content and music. When not in use, the displays can be raised behind a masking unit via a remote control switch at the front desk.
  • Each site was also equipped with a suspended ViewSonic Full HD LED projector system for the walls behind the lane displays. These can be used to create a wallpaper effect showcasing Splitsville branding, or configured to present multiple image panes and messaging tailored for the audienceand/or time of day.
  • Party Rooms - LED projector systems were installed in each party room, all of which are connected to the main system and can access the satellite network via HDMI cable or cellular port.
  • Bars - The Splitsville bars were adorned with a video wall comprised of multiple 32” to 48” ViewSonic CDE series commercial-grade displays (11 to 14 units depending on the size of the location). Up to three satellite dishes provide customized visual and audio content to the various displays. Screens are connected to the satellite dish or the Bowling Music Network, which runs commercials every 15 minutes.

Additional display synchronization technology was deployed at the Hamilton location to enable increased selection of splitting options based on 16 to 20 inputs. These can be loaded at the head office, which, Haggerty explained enables them to dictate what they want to feed into those lanes at any time.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • New digital display and projector systems deliver eye-catching entertainment experience for a younger audience

  • Digital ads have resulted in increased food and beverage sales

  • Customer base has expanded to include party bookings, business meetings and more

  • Venue quadrupled earnings within 2.5 years of installation

  • Plans are in progress to add interactive displays at each bowling lane

Since its technological evolution, Splitsville has delivered on its promise to bring a state-of-the-art bowling entertainment experience to a new generation of customers.

"ViewSonic digital signage, projection systems, and large format displays are now front and center in every area of every Splitsville facility, serving up music, sports, event reminders and acknowledgements, celebratory notices, advertising, and business presentations," said Haggerty.

“The instant gratification of digital has been a big tool for getting people out,” said Haggerty. “Also, adding more visual richness to our ads has moved people to buy more food, more quickly.”

The first location to undergo an overhaul quadrupled its earnings within two-and-a-half years, said Haggerty. “It took about eight months for it to get its sea legs, but after that, everything came together.”

The sites have become a popular draw for activities outside of bowling, from party bookings to business meetings. “People can even do PowerPoint presentations over the lanes if they like. With one push of the button they can have all screens showing the same input,” said Haggerty.

Plans are in the works to add interactive touchscreen capabilities to displays at the individual bowling lanes to enable sign up, scorekeeping, points collection, and messaging.

Now armed with a proven concept with definitive results, Haggerty has his eyes on expansion into the U.S.

“Many factors motivated our decision to choose the ViewSonic displays – the quality of the equipment, the warranty, the cost, and the support provided during the decision-making process.”

— Salomón Ocón, GBT Technologies Director of Operations

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Install a video wall solution that can effectively display both software development jobs, as well as stock market information, for a busy financial tech company.

For any digital signage solution provider, installing a video wall is always a challenge. For Sucotec S.A, not only did they require perfectly aligned displays, but they also needed to provide equipment that met the expectations of their customers, GBT Technologies.

According to Salomón Ocón, operations director of GBT Technologies, they wanted to invest in a video wall solution that would push effective communication and teamwork throughout the company.

“In our business, since most of our customers are in the financial market, we needed a visual tool capable of managing two main areas: software development and stock market indicator monitoring.

“Our developers needed a video wall for displaying programming jobs in an agile and simultaneous way. The rest of our staff wanted the video wall to display reference information about stock markets around the world. For these reasons, the video wall was installed in the lobby where everyone could see the different messages,” explained Ocón. “Obviously, the quality of the images should be flawless, and the edge of the displays should also be thin enough to make sure we have a better general view.”

To achieve this, Sucotec S.A. suggested to GBT Technologies the use of 12 ViewSonic CDE4803 commercial displays that, in addition to features like high brightness, wide viewing angles and narrow bezels, come with value added features, as highlighted by Ocón.

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • A video wall comprised of 12 ViewSonic CDE4803 48” Full HD 1080p commercial displays

“Many factors motivated our decision to choose the ViewSonic displays – the quality of the equipment, the warranty, the cost, and the support provided during the decision-making process,” said Ocón.

Fernando Ramírez, Sucotec S.A. representative added, “We were always sure that the ViewSonic displays would be the most suitable for this video wall, given the requirements of big screen size, image quality, and symmetric alignment of the displays.”

The representatives of both companies highlighted a very successful purchasing and installation experience, not only due to the quality of the equipment, but also the support provided by ViewSonic and its wholesale distributor.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Facilitating GBT Technologies staff permanent self-evaluation of their work processes which translates into better quality control and results for their customers.

“How has the installation of this video wall impacted our offices? I can say that it has improved the productivity of our daily activities. It provides better guidance to our staff for very specific software programming processes by sharing and displaying projects in a fast and efficient manner,” said Ocón.

In addition, there are no complaints related to the quality of the equipment provided.

“Since we installed this solution in our company, we have not had the need to receive technical support at all, which makes us very happy because it is a good indicator of the performance of the ViewSonic displays,” said Ocón.

For Fernando Ramírez, representative of Sucotec S.A., installing this ViewSonic video wall has generated important results for his customer, not only due to the support for the daily workload of the company, but also by creating a visually attractive environment around the solution.

After evaluating these successful results, Sucotec S.A. is certain they will keep a longlasting relationship with ViewSonic to help other companies achieve their goals.

“They were able to use the ViewBoard interactive display while looking at the audience, and everything they did was mirrored on the big Direct View LED display, which made it highly visible to everyone in the room no matter where they were seated. The two displays are a great pairing.”

— Dean Yelverton, Network Administrator

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Update conference room with state-of-the art interactive display capabilities

  • Maximize space usage with versatile layout and equipment

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when Ellisville State School (ESS) closed its doors to protect residents and staff, Director Rinsey McSwain found herself conducting daily video calls in the conference room. She quickly became frustrated by the limited capabilities of the aging projector and conference phone. This frustration was the springboard for change, as McSwain envisioned the development of a fully-interactive environment powered by the most current technology.

“She wanted top-notch video conferencing equipment that could be used in multiple, flexible ways,” said IT Director Bobby Sterling. “The room was already equipped with a divider, and she wanted to be able to leverage it for simultaneous smaller meetings as well as ones that used the full space.”

Along with Network Administrator Dean Yelverton, Sterling reached out to reseller partner RJ Young for assistance. Together they looked at potential solutions from various manufacturers, and settled on the Direct View LED display as their technology of choice for the room’s main display. This would be supplemented with an interactive flat panel display on the other side of the room.

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic® 135” All-in-one Direct View LED display LD135-151

  • ViewSonic 75-inch ViewBoard® IFP7552-1C-E1

  • ViewSonic Slot-In PC model VPC25-W53-O1-1B

Next, Sterling and Yelverton visited the reseller’s installer, who favored ViewSonic among the suppliers under consideration.

“He showed us photos of ViewSonic Direct View LED display installations he had done,” said Yelverton. “Seeing those, along with the great bang-for-the-buck offered by ViewSonic, took us quickly in that direction. We knew that our director would be pleased with the seamless display.”

It didn’t hurt that both Yelverton and Sterling had previous positive experience with ViewSonic products. “I’ve used ViewSonic displays going back a long time,” said Yelverton. “They’ve always been very good quality at a fair price. And for what you get with the huge Direct View LED display, it’s really rather affordable.”

The team took their proposal to McSwain, who was impressed by the display’s size and features. The final signoff came from business services, and with these approvals, the IT team obtained the required quotes. RJ Young presented the best pricing, and received the purchase order for a ViewSonic® 135” All-in- One LD135-151 Direct View LED display and a ViewSonic® 75-inch ViewBoard® IFP7552-1C-E1 display with VPC25-W53-01-1B slot-in PC, along with Logitech control panel, webcams, a controller and Sure speakers to round out the solution. The IT department further ordered a ViewSonic® LD-MK-001 vacuum maintenance tool, which would enable them to easily remove and replace LED panels without having to bring in third party support.

The final challenge would be installing the new equipment in time for the annual Department of Mental Health Board of Directors meeting that the school would be hosting just three weeks after placing the purchase order. Fortunately, one of the key features of the ViewSonic Direct View LED display system is streamlined installation that makes it faster and easier to deploy than a traditional LED wall.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • The conference space was transformed into a versatile, state-of-the art facility used by staff throughout the school

  • The full solution was delivered and installed in under 3 weeks, meeting a critical deadline

  • Video conferencing is easy and efficient, with both displays delivering a clear view of participants

  • Stakeholders across the organization appreciate the performance and polish provided by the ViewSonic Direct View LED display

  • The ViewSonic ViewBoard display provides an all-new level of interactivity to presenters and trainers

Thanks to the support and hustle from RJ Young and ViewSonic, the equipment arrived about two weeks after the order was placed. This left under a week to get everything installed and working.

“The Department of Mental Health is our school’s oversight organization, and this meeting is very important,” said Sterling. “Our director wanted everything perfect to showcase videos on the new Direct View LED display and to accommodate interactive presentations on the ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive display. We were under a tremendous time crunch.”

Thanks to the efforts of all involved – and the ease of installation because of ViewSonic Direct View LED technology – everything went smoothly, said Yelverton. They even had a couple days to conduct training. The meeting went off without a hitch.

What was once a standard-issue conference room with basic and outdated equipment has become a state-of-the art facility that provides flexibility and ease of use.

“We didn’t realize how much we were going to be able to take advantage of by going from what we had to the fully interactive setup we have now,” said Sterling.

For groups like the board of directors meeting, the full room supports a range of needs, from a larger-than-life video display and immersive video calls on the Direct View LED display, to interactive presentations using the arm-mounted ViewSonic ViewBoard interactive display, which can be height-adjusted and angled to meet user needs as well as a variety of seating arrangements.

“During the board meeting we had several attendees present who were accustomed to using whiteboards,” said Yelverton. “They were able to use the ViewBoard interactive display while looking at the audience, and everything they did was mirrored on the big Direct View LED display, which made it highly visible to everyone in the room no matter where they were seated. The two displays are a great pairing.”

When the full room isn’t needed, the school can book dual meetings in the divided space. The collaborative capabilities of the ViewBoard display have been particularly useful for conducting remote and hybrid training, commented Yelverton, and the room has become an in-demand hub for trainings as much as for meetings.

Sterling and Yelverton emphasized that both RJ Young and ViewSonic went above and beyond, throughout the process.

“I have to give a shout out to ViewSonic’s tech support,” said Yelverton. “We had issues with a couple of the LED panels, which they anticipated by including some spares with the kit. Then after that the tech support team sent us a couple more spares to keep on hand.” The Ellisville State School director who requested the conference room makeover has been more than pleased with the results, the IT duo said. “She still gets a big smile every time she sees the beautiful Direct View LED display,” said Sterling. “When visitors come from our central office it’s the first thing that she shows them.”

Retail Market Chain Shines with Cost Savings and Contemporary Look of ViewSonic Digital Signage

CUSTOMER PROFILE

Founded in 1951 by brothers Bernard and Eugene Gelson as an extraordinary grocery shopping experience for discerning consumers, Gelson’s Markets is recognized today as one of the nation’s premier supermarket chains. With stores in neighborhoods throughout Southern California, each location is singularly known as the area’s best market for superior produce, highest quality meat, seafood and deli, an unmatched selection of wine and liquor, and exceptional service.

Canvas LogoCanvas Logo

“Everything on the ViewSonic displays looks better than printed signs. Images and text are crisp and clear and we can also use video. It’s a lot more compelling and eye catching.”

— Yvonne Manganaro, SVP Customer and Team Experience

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Upscale retail market sought to upgrade print signage with a more contemporary alternative that would enable them to change out content more quickly and cost-effectively

Known as “the ultimate foodie paradise,” and a “place to spoil yourself,” by fans on Yelp, Gelson’s is not your average supermarket. Amenities like wine and craft beer bars, gourmet cheese islands, and chef-led prepared food stations distinguish Gelson’s shopping experience. Offering made-fresh daily dishes is clearly an outstanding recipe for customer satisfaction. However, keeping the signage as fresh and up-to-date became a costly and time-consuming burden.

“Many of our departments needed to update their signage on a very regular basis,” said Yvonne Manganaro, SVP Customer and Team Experience. “We realized that we needed to do something different that would allow us to reduce print costs while also bringing a more contemporary look to the stores.”

To find a solution for this dilemma, Manganaro and a coworker from the company’s procurement department traveled to a digital signage trade show in Las Vegas to assess the options.

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic 43-inch CDE4320 professional-grade commercial displays

  • ViewSonic network media players models NMP309-W and NMP589-W with included digital signage software

  • ViewSonic 42-inch EP4220 ePoster

The duo visited a host of booths, talking to reps from many companies. By the time they left the ViewSonic booth, Manganaro was convinced that they had found their digital signage partner.

“The first thing that we liked about ViewSonic was that they’re based in California, close enough for us to easily visit their showroom,” she said. “Along with that, and probably the primary deciding factor, was the free software that is included with their digital signage solutions.”

While not as feature-packed as some of the available software, said Manganaro, the ViewSonic software had everything they needed to meet their retail signage needs.

“The more robust software usually has monthly or annual subscription fees and that would have added a lot of cost to each unit,” she said. “We loved that the ViewSonic program was included and very functional for what we needed.”

Manganaro was sold on the ViewSonic solution, which included vibrant ViewSonic® 43-inch CDE4320 professional-grade commercial displays and ViewSonic network media players (models NMP309-W and NMP589-W) with included Signage Manager software. Gelson’s began installing the ViewSonic digital signage throughout their stores, for what has amounted to a total of 16 ViewSonic CDE4320 displays (plus one EP4220 ePoster) in each of 27 stores over the past 10 years.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Return on investment was achieved across all departments in under a year

  • Department managers can now update content as often as needed

  • Digital signage and ePosters deliver a more modern, upscale look

  • The digital platforms provide vendor partners with message showcase opportunities

  • Customer satisfaction increased, with compelling content to view while waiting for service

Take one look and it’s clear that the digital screens deliver a more modern look than printed signage, easily meeting Manganaro’s first goal.

“Everything on the ViewSonic displays looks better than printed signs. Images and text are crisp and clear and we can also use video,” she said. “It’s a lot more compelling and eye catching.”

What’s more, department managers can update content in a fraction of the time it took when the stores relied on printed signs.

“The ViewSonic digital signage gives us a lot more flexibility,” said Manganaro. “There were times in the past when budget wouldn’t allow us to update a menu because it was going to cost a couple thousand dollars to change out signs. Now that’s not even a factor; we can change content whenever department owners want to.”

The convenience and good looks of the ViewSonic digital signage came with another outstanding benefit – substantial cost savings.

“We calculated the ROI before we purchased the displays,” said Manganaro. “For our departments that had the most variability in menu and ingredient content it took about 10 months to break even. A few took a bit longer, but not much.”

As the Gelson’s business continued to grow and add departments, increasing the number of screens to manage with the ViewSonic software, Manganaro acknowledged that they did encounter a constraint in the free software.

“The ViewSonic software has a limit of 50 screens on one set up, but because it’s so wonderfully straightforward and easy to work with our IT team was able to create a work around,” she said. “They created channels of content for departments – one for meat and seafood, one for the front desk, and so on.”

This, she added, makes it easy for their designer to create content, then copy and paste as needed, and finally upload quickly to multiple units. Content is then scheduled through the software, another basic yet critical feature, according to Manganaro.

“The ability to schedule is key,” she said. “I can’t imagine trying to have a designer physically at a computer at 6 am before we open or right when our ad breaks, or on Friday when suddenly there’s something new to communicate in the produce department.”

After nearly 10 years of using the ViewSonic CDE displays and software, Manganaro says that the most beautiful thing about the solution is that it ‘just works.’

“We didn’t need or want to pay for bells and whistles; this is a very functional program that does everything we need it to do in a retail environment,” she said. “We looked at a lot of other systems and we’re so glad to be working with ViewSonic. We service hundreds of thousands of customers per week and need to deliver a uniformly good experience – our stores get so busy that the last thing we need to worry about is tech failing.”

In fact, Manganaro confessed, they once installed a digital signage system in a store because of a technology ViewSonic didn’t have at the time, and it has been a headache.

“The downtime at that store has been horrible,” she said. “The ViewSonic system is just so reliable. I don’t have to worry about it and my team doesn’t have to worry about it. It just works.”

As Manganaro and her team became more experienced with the digital signage equipment and its benefi ts, they began looking for a solution to the unwieldly signage in the stores’ entryway.

“We replaced some rather cluttered-looking printed signage with the sleek ViewSonic EP4220 ePoster,” she said. “Now we can display multiple moving images and when visitors walk into the store it delivers an upscale look in line with our brand.”

Beyond saving a substantial amount of time and money, and imparting a contemporary feel, the ViewSonic digital displays have added value to Gelson’s markets in another notable way, said Manganaro – for their partners.

“We are able to do some terrific storytelling and create videos that showcase our amazing partners,” she said. “For example, our director of meat and seafood went on a fishing trip with a vendor and shot a video we used to showcase their sustainable practices and how they bring product to market so quickly.”

Gelson’s partners are thrilled to receive this additional visibility and support, she added, and customers are big fans of the content as well.

“While they’re waiting for service customers have something interesting to watch,” she said. “This compelling content helps improve customer satisfaction and informs them about the vendors, products and care that sets us apart from other groceries.”

In every way, working with ViewSonic has been a very positive experience, concluded Manganaro.

“We manage well over 300 screens in our chain, and when there’s a problem it’s virtually always because one of our team members accidentally bumped a media player, unplugged something, or broke an antenna,” she said. “It’s rarely a problem with the ViewSonic solutions.”

Custom Motocross Gear Company Creates High-Impact Dealer Sales Kit with ViewSonic ePoster Interactive Kiosk

CUSTOMER PROFILE

Founded in 2015 by former professional supercross racer Michael Leib, Canvas MX is a motocross gear manufacturer that specializes in completely customizable kits and other apparel. The first MX gear company to offer the clean look of blank black and white gear, Canvas MX evolved into its current bespoke design focus, offering a wide range of customization lines through its 3D design portal at canvasmx.com.

“It showcases our 3D design portal beautifully, and I love how you just can’t miss the ViewSonic kiosk in a store. It’s big, clean, modern and high-quality – a perfect partner for displaying our modern, high-quality product.”

— Michael Leib, Founder of Canvas MX

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Create a dealer sales package that included an interactive kiosk for in-store ordering of customized motocross apparel

After leaving the racing circuit in 2020, pro rider Michael Leib had more time to focus on his business enterprise, Canvas MX, which offers customizable motocross apparel though its 3D website portal. The company fills a unique niche in a business where fans, riders and dealers looking for custom apparel typically wait 18 months for customized apparel shipped from overseas – or settle for off-the-shelf designs.

Until recently, the company’s sole operational focus was on internet sales. By producing its product in the US, Canvas MX was able to deliver items quickly, within three to four weeks. The 3D portal was well-designed and easy to use. With these pieces in place, Leib was ready to expand on the concept.

“We knew that to scale the business we needed a way to take it into the dealerships,” said Leib. “We have an outstanding website customization and ordering interface, so we knew that what we needed was a way to take that interface directly to the dealers.”

In fact, Leib had already discovered the ideal solution during the early days of the business, while Leib was still spending most of his time involved in racing.

“I connected with Mad Moose Media, an on-site event photography company, at a race. They were using ViewSonic kiosks to display photos of race participants,” said Leib. “Riders and fans could scroll through images and order directly from the kiosk. I immediately realized that this was the platform we needed to use when we were ready to move forward with the dealership model.”

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a jigsaw puzzle pieceline drawing of a jigsaw puzzle piece
  • ViewSonic EP5542T 55-inch Multi-touch Digital ePoster

The slim, freestanding kiosk Leib saw at the photo display was a ViewSonic® EP5542T 55-inch Multi-touch Digital ePoster. He tried one out at a tradeshow, which confirmed his initial reaction to the display.

“It was exactly what we wanted as the centerpiece of our dealer package,” he said. “It’s tall, great-looking, and attention-grabbing, and it was easy to run our website and offer customization right there on demand.”

With this vision in mind, Leib ramped up the company’s manufacturing capabilities in the US. When he was satisfi ed that he could meet dealer demand, he created the Canvas MX Dealer Kit, which includes a 55-inch ViewSonic ePoster kiosk, a mannequin, and 50 sets of dealer-specific
gear fit kits.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • The large, vibrant kiosk delivers an eye-catching showcase for dealers

  • Customers can easily create and order custom apparel using the smooth touchscreen interface

The Canvas MX Dealer Kit enables motorcycle dealers to easily offer custom gear and apparel in a way that conserves floor space and cash flow. Importantly, it also enables dealers to incorporate their own brand on the gear.

“It’s everything we need to deliver for our dealer partners,” said Leib. “This package lets them offer their own branded apparel without taking up tons of floor space, or tying up cash flow while waiting months and months for delivery of the product.”

Offered for a set base price, with no ongoing costs, the Canvas MX Dealer Kit revolutionizes the way gear is purchased in store, said Leib.

“Now customers can order custom motocross gear directly from their dealership,” he said. “Our Fit Kit is really cool because it allows people to touch and feel and try on the products as they’re designing their own custom gear on our ViewSonic kiosk.”

In an industry where motorcycle dealers that want to carry apparel typically must commit to buying upwards of 100,000 pieces then wait many months for delivery, this model is indeed ground breaking. The ViewSonic kiosk, said Leib, was central to making it happen.

“It showcases our 3D design portal beautifully, and I love how you just can’t miss the ViewSonic kiosk in a store,” said Leib. “It’s big, clean, modern and high-quality – a perfect partner for displaying our modern, high-quality product.”

Among the excellent features, he added, are the vibrant colors, crisp graphics, and smooth touchscreen response.

“The ViewSonic kiosk enabled us to provide dealers with an amazing display,” said Leib. “It has enabled us expand into new markets and to do it in a way that fully meets dealer needs for a great-looking showcase.”

  • Install a reliable and efficient video wall that could handle high-volume use and be visible throughout a large presentation space

The Montgomery Preparatory Academy for Career Technologies (MPACT), the career tech building for the district, is a hub of activity, where students, staff, trainers, and recruiters frequently gather to attend and deliver presentations.

“We host countless seminars, training, PD, and recruitment presentations every month,” said Career Tech Director Todd Davis. “The process for facilitating these activities was very cumbersome. We had to go to another building across town to get a projector, screen and sound board, set them up, then quickly return it all so that it was available for other users.”

Not only was this incredibly inefficient, but with larger meetings and presentations not everyone could see the screen from the back of the room, added Davis.

Inspiration hit as it often does, when one least expects it.

“I was out to dinner during my daughter’s national volleyball tournament and saw what I thought would be the ideal solution,” said Davis. “It was a bunch of TVs put together into a screen so big you could just about see it from another state.”

Davis immediately sent a photo of the image to the CTE team’s Bookkeeper Auburn Brown whose responsibilities include sourcing and purchasing technology to support the district’s dozens of CTE instructors.

“I take care of around 80 teachers and two education specialists,” said Brown. “So when my boss texted me a photo of a huge video screen and said ‘I want this for our commons area,’ I started doing the research right away.”

THE SOLUTION

  • ViewSonic LD135-151 - 135” Direct View LED Display, 1920 x 1080 Resolution, 600-nit Brightness, 24/7

The large display that sparked Brown’s interest was a traditional video wall created by lining up several TV-like monitors into a grid. Not realizing there would be an alternative, Brown initially assumed that this was the format they would use.

“As I researched manufacturers, I made sure to look at ViewSonic because we use their 65-inch ViewBoard interactive displays here at Career Tech and the district has purchased many of them as well,” said Brown. “I had no idea that there was an option like their Direct View LED displays, which are huge and give a much cleaner look than the other video walls.”

Brown narrowed the options to a few brands and sought advice and pricing from their rep at reseller partner InCare. When she saw the price of the ViewSonic® Direct View LED display she was thrilled.

“I expected it to be more expensive than the video walls that didn’t look as good,” she said. “Going with the ViewSonic Direct View LED just made sense based on my research. It was bigger, had no lines breaking it up, and it was an easier to manage all-in-one solution.”

She took her recommendation that they purchase a 135” ViewSonic Direct View LED display to Davis.

“Auburn said to me, ‘I think we can do a whole lot better than a bunch of TVs lined up together,’” said Davis. “When I saw the ViewSonic display, I absolutely agreed.”

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Added efficiency saves staff time and resources

  • Audience members have clear visibility from anywhere in the room

  • Presentations are clear and crisp, with no bezels to distract attention or break up content

Installed in the center’s commons area, which can seat up to 100 people, the ViewSonic Direct View LED has been a big hit. After over a year of use, Brown and Davis can confidently say that the eye-catching display has exceeded their initial hopes for the presentation space – from its visual appeal to its functional benefits.

“It’s a showstopper,” said Brown. “There’s no better word for it than that. When I meet visitors at the front office, which is maybe 105 feet from the display wall, I always get astonished comments. It’s vivid and clear even from there. Even the students stop and talk about how amazing it is.”

When it comes down to utility, the ViewSonic Direct View Display has more than served its initial purpose.

“It has saved Todd a lot of time, not having to go to the downtown central office to sign equipment in and out every time we have a presentation,” said Brown. “I love it because no one has to hassle with it, it just works and looks amazing.”

Now, presentations of all kinds are reliably crisp, clear, and large enough for everyone in the room to get a good view, no matter where they’re seated.

“We use it year, round, even in the summer,” said Brown. “Presenters include trainers from the State Department of Education, military recruiters, our CTE instructors, and more. And if there are no meetings scheduled and no announcements that we need to run, we’ll put up music, football games or other content that the students and staff enjoy when passing by.”

Everyone is so happy with the display, in fact, that as of this writing, Brown was working on a purchase order to obtain one for their sister center, a magnet high school that focuses on career tech education.

“The advertising design teacher there fell in love with it and convinced us to get one for his school,” said Brown. “They’re going to install it in their ‘Crossroads,’ an intersection of two long hallways that pretty much every student walks through during the day, and run Career Tech announcements and other information.”

— Corey Durham, Workforce Systems Administrator

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Create an advanced XR training and development facility, with hardware to support student, trainee and community business needs

The Workforce Division of Hinds Community College (HCC) aligns community members with local jobs and fulfills training needs for local industry and business partners. Job seekers receive workforce training, assessment/testing, and adult basic and continuing education. Community businesses gain an educated and well-trained workforce flowing out of the Division’s programs. This synergistic relationship strengthens regional commerce and community by helping retain, grow, and attract businesses and industries.

In 2020 HCC joined an expansive development project that would transform a historic building in Vicksburg, Mississippi into a state-of-the-art accelerated technology transfer center. The Sen. Thad Cochran Mississippi Center for Innovation & Technology (MCITy) was scheduled to be fully operational in Spring 2023. The HCC Workforce division agreed to use their space to showcase the rapidly evolving world of eXtended Reality (XR) for education and training, with the goal of opening as soon as possible.

“Our vision was to develop a space that would bring awareness to the use of AR/VR for employee training and put it in the hands of local business and industry, as well as to offer classes in XR content development,” said Workforce Systems Administrator Corey Durham. “Businesses are facing a constant revolving door of employees and they can’t keep up with the training needs. When companies use XR to help prepare workers they conserve resources and reduce turnover.”

With that vision in place, Associate Vice President of Workforce David Creel tasked Durham with determining the technology needed to transform it into the functional HCC Emerging Technologies Training Center.

THE SOLUTION

  • 135” ViewSonic® LD135-151 Direct View LED display

  • 86” ViewSonic ViewBoard® IFP8662 high-performance 4K interactive displays

  • ViewSonic VB-STND-003 motorized trolley carts with 90-degree tilt

The scope of the plan encompassed four distinct areas. A central demo center would showcase the capabilities of XR for training; this space required a large display that would make visible the modules trainees would experience through their headsets. Three labs would serve as facilities for teaching AR content development and providing specific employee training experiences; these rooms needed interactive displays to facilitate engagement and collaborative learning. All of this hardware needed to be reliable, commercial grade tech capable of meeting the Center’s anticipated high demand.

To source this tech, Durham partnered with Dan Wilkins from technology solutions provider RJ Young.

“Dan is phenomenal at matching the utility of the space and pairing equipment to achieve all the desired outcomes,” said Durham. “I told him what we wanted to accomplish and he was able to find what we needed.”

Wilkins brought in large screen and interactive displays from several manufacturers for Durham to test out. According to Durham, the ViewSonic products clearly stood out from the rest.

“One thing that sold me on the ViewSonic products was the versatility of the equipment – how much we could do with it and how integrated it could be,” he said. “We wanted modularity and integrated products from a sole provider and ViewSonic was the only manufacturer we looked at that had everything we needed.”

a man in a motion capture suit holding a vr headseta man in a motion capture suit holding a vr headset

The demonstration room called for a large and eye-catching display to draw in visitors and quickly raise awareness for the impact of XR. A 135” ViewSonic LD135-151 Direct View LED display provided this critical focal point. Two 86” ViewSonic® ViewBoard® IFP8662 high-performance 4K touchscreen displays in the back of the room provided additional training and learning stations.

The classroom labs required interactivity and the versatility to use the displays vertically for presentations and training, and horizontally as a tabletop for collaborative design development. These rooms were outfitted with the 86” ViewBoard IFP8662 interactive displays mounted on ViewSonic VB-STND-003 motorized trolley carts with 90-degree tilt.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • The training center is thriving, hosting daily classes, training, and industry visits

  • The 135” ViewSonic Direct View LED display draws in visitors and showcases the center’s capabilities

  • Students learn to develop engaging VR/AR content on the 86” ViewSonic ViewBoard IFP8662 displays

  • The ViewSonic VB-STND-003 motorized trolley carts enables collaborative, table-top engagement with 3D modelling content

The Hinds Community College Emerging Technologies Training Center opened its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony December 7, 2022. Shortly thereafter the Workforce Division began hosting its first classes. Interest from local enterprise has been non-stop. Students, trainees and visitors alike are treated to a continuous flow of vibrant, rolling content on the showcase display: from ads and publication outtakes to clips from HCC’s VR training content.

“Every day we get interested visitors,” said Durham, “The first thing they say is invariably, ‘Wow!’ We get that over and over. The huge 135-inch ViewSonic display is doing exactly what we wanted – drawing in potential partners and showing them what we do in a dramatic way.”

Once they see what we do, Durham added, they ask, ‘What can we do with this? How can we leverage this technology?’ It’s all so new and innovative that it can be hard to wrap your mind around it initially.

One of the Center’s first partnerships involved augmenting the Colleges’ Diesel Equipment Technology Program.

“Potential employees tend to envision being covered head-to-toe in grease, which isn’t very appealing, so we partnered with local developers to build a VR experience to show them what this job is really like,” said Durham. “Our VR training lets prospects walk the shop floor and see how clean it is, along with learning how to perform the work. It helps them determine whether this is something they can see themselves doing.”

a cg render of a truck on a viewboard display while the professor addresses the class from a tableta cg render of a truck on a viewboard display while the professor addresses the class from a tablet

Students learn how to develop augmented reality content in the Center’s lab spaces, using the 86-inch ViewBoard interactive displays to collaborate and create. Integrated conferencing equipment enables companies to virtually teach extended reality courses, while the ability to cast content onto the screens lets students and instructors easily share content.

“Again, it was this versatility that really drew us to the ViewSonic products. They had all the functionality we needed – the content casting, big screen conferencing capabilities and the mobile cart, not to mention the gorgeous 135-inch display,” said Durham. “The smooth touchscreen response has provided an incredible experience for students working on 3D modelling, especially when using it horizontally like a table. Everything has been ideal.”

This success has been replicated at Hind’s Rankin campus, with a similarly outfitted XR-focused space.

“We only had one room to work with, but we packed in as much as we could, using the blueprint we created for the Vicksburg Center.” said Durham. “It has a ViewSonic 135-inch display and the same lab capabilities, with an 86-inch ViewSonic interactive display.

It was a relief to see everything come together so well, Durham acknowledged, expressing thanks ViewSonic and RJ Young for their support. Clearly a huge boon to the region, the HCC Emerging Technologies Training Center provides exactly the mutually-beneficial relationship among students, businesses and workforce trainees that is at the heart of the Workforce Division’s mission.

Thanks to an included flight case, motorized mobile cart and convenient foldable 135” screen, this all-in-one solution delivers for big-screen messaging right out of the box. With its foldable screen design and 360° silent wheels, the display can fit in elevators and be effortlessly moved from one floor to another, and from venue to venue.

The hotel deployed the Direct View LED in its ballroom and conference rooms.  The display’s huge 135” screen, 1080p Full HD resolution and 120% Rec.709 wide color gamut delivered stunning, larger-than-life images for different events and business presentations. In addition, built-in Harman Kardon speakers provided theater-level audio that was perfect for celebrations and parties at the hotel.

Finally, the display also offers a great user experience. Wireless content sharing solutions enable content to be conveniently streamed from mobile devices onto the display, and the embedded operation system and Wi-Fi allows users to work in a familiar interface.

"We decided to use the ViewBoard interactive displays because they gave us the ease of connecting any type of device. It was also from one of the few brands that could provide the equipment quickly during the pandemic, coupled with our trust in ViewSonic and the relationship we had already built”

— SILVANA BALAREZO, UPC DIGITAL LEARNING EXPERIENCE MANAGER

THE CHALLENGE

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Leverage professors’ digital literacy and use of technology during the pandemic.

  • Engage in hybrid education that is neither complex for teachers to use nor a distraction in their teaching process.

Following the pandemic, UPC leaders wanted to foster a return to in-person education, without losing the technology literacy they had gained after two years of lockdown.

“We were looking for a technological proposal that would not be complex for teachers to use or distract them from their teaching process, and we wanted a technology that could be feasible over time to take advantage of all the lessons learned by teachers and students,” says Silvana Balarezo, Digital Learning Experience Manager at UPC.

UPC had already been using ViewSonic® ViewBoard® interactive displays in academic environments, creative rooms and a pilot student project which still continues today.

“We decided to use the ViewBoard interactive displays because they gave us the ease of connecting any type of device. It was also from one of the few brands that could provide the equipment quickly during the pandemic, coupled with our trust in ViewSonic and the relationship we had already built,” Balarezo said.

One of UPC’s main objectives was that students benefit from any education mode. If a student attended face-to-face lessons, they should feel that it was worth coming to the campus, and an online student should feel as if they were inside the classroom sharing the same experience as their classmates, with no need to come to the physical classroom.

This is the reason why UPC adopted the Hyflex concept in which hybrid classrooms are designed to function as physical, 100% remote or both, without affecting education quality or the learning experience in thanks to the equipment used.

“Our mission was to make professors feel comfortable in the classroom. We didn’t want them to feel that they were in a recording studio,” said Balarezo. “The classroom needed to have the technological tools to motivate learning and support collaborative activities between face-to-face and online students.”

THE SOLUTION

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • Leverage professors’ digital literacy and use of technology during the pandemic.

  • Engage in hybrid education that is neither complex for teachers to use nor a distraction in their teaching process.

ViewSonic set up 72 classrooms with ViewBoard IFP8650 86” Ultra HD 4K displays, along with VPC25-W33-P1 slot-in PCs with Windows 10 Pro, and Viewboard Cast™ software for Windows licenses. This setup allowed students and teachers to make wireless presentations from any of their devices to the displays using a licensed application.

In addition, UPC added wireless physical classroom microphones for teachers and students, a pro camera for streaming and a secondary display so that the teacher can view and manage remote students. This very successful layout was designed after taking into account UPC’s previous experiences with online and hybrid classrooms.

“We should highlight that the ViewSonic slot-in PCs, which are installed on the back of the ViewBoard display, deliver computing power without the traditional wiring required to connect a PC,” said Balarezo. “This provides a user-friendly environment for professors to manage the display, the online sessions, and the use of online classrooms and videoconferences.”

In addition, a teacher certification process was implemented for the ViewBoard displays. UPC currently has 200 certified professors and 800 teachers undergoing the certification process.

“Our professors were initially apprehensive because of what we had experienced during the pandemic, but once classes started, students also accepted the new education mode. Today, faculty members encourage diversified student interaction in the classroom, including online and face-to-face student groups and work, in addition to promoting autonomous learning,” said Balarezo.

THE RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Customized learning, access to different educational services and review with recorded lessons.

  • Teacher-friendly technology as if they were using a PC, tablet or cell phone.

  • UPC became a modern, diverse and inclusive teaching university.

Students highly value the possibility of choosing between face-to-face or online learning, with the same advantages and benefits in either learning mode.

Professors value the convenience and agility with which they work using the ViewBoard interactive displays, including the myViewBoard® Whiteboard software for highlighting and creating content, which helps to provide better presentations.

“Having a group of face-to-face and online students provides a lot of flexibility to interact. It is essential for the development of autonomous learning and also for students to feel engaged and identify with the university,” said Elías Neira, Education History and Philosophy Professor at UPC.

"The 4K images are beautiful and the ViewSonic ViewBoard displays are so easy to use. They’re great for hybrid as well as in-person meetings, when some participants can’t be there in the room with us.”

— KEVIN BURTON, GREATER LOS ANGELES AREA COUNCIL IT ANALYST

PROBLEM

line drawing of a circular mazeline drawing of a circular maze
  • The Greater LA Council’s presentation technology was aging and in need of an upgrade.
  • Existing technology limited resource sharing and had limited presentation capabilities.

Effective meetings are critical to the operations of Boy Scouts of America Councils across the country. Regularly scheduled volunteer training sessions, as well as staff and Scout and Board of Directors meetings, keep the Councils on track and achieving their youth service goals. At the Greater Los Angeles Area Council building, the main training space was in clear need of an upgrade. Dating back to the building’s grand opening in 2008, the wiring was becoming glitchy and the presentation technology was more than outdated.

“We were making do with screens and projectors that were arleady old when they were donated,” said Charlie Wilson, the Council’s Director of Finance and Performance Management, who noted that as thrifty Scouts, they rely heavily on donations. “By the time we were thinking about upgrading, it was a very old system. The wiring was going bad. The colors were going bad. The mic wasn’t working. It was, to put it simply, a disaster.”

The disaster cleanup plan called for an up-to-date mobile solution that could be used throughout the facility, in addition to the large main meeting and training space, which itself could be bisected into two smaller spaces.

“We wanted to achieve an upgrade that would meet our needs now and for a long time coming,” said Kevin Burton, the Council’s IT Analyst. “At minimum we needed a new screen and a new sound system, so we looked to a third party for help.”

SOLUTION

  • Two ViewSonic® ViewBoard® IFP7550 interactive flat panel displays mounted on ViewSonic VB-STND-001 rolling carts

Wilson, Burton, and the Council’s Director of Support Service, Steve Smith, reached out to AV expert and Eagle Scout, John Brown, to provide that assistance.

“John is a big fan of Scouting and he’s CEO of The Showpros, an AV company that’s donated a lot of work to our Council,” said Burton. “It turned out that he’s also a big fan of ViewSonic and their products, and with his connections we were able to receive two donated ViewSonic® ViewBoard® displays and mobile carts.”

Set up, said Burton, was fast and easy.

“Our ViewSonic rep offered to come help,” he said. “But we didn’t need it. John and I just got out our screwdrivers, assembled the stands, and had the ViewBoard interactive flat panel displays up and going in no time.”

RESULTS

Line drawing of a rocketLine drawing of a rocket
  • Embedded ViewBoard features boost the efficiency and productivity of Board meetings, staff meetings and volunteer trainings
  • Presentations are easy to view, with crisp 4K images and the ability to position the displays based on seating/goals
  • Mobile carts enable cost-effective resource sharing

Since the deployment of the new displays, the Council has used them for every training, staff meeting and board of directors meeting.

“The 4K images are beautiful and the ViewSonic ViewBoard displays are so easy to use,” said Burton. “They’re great for hybrid as well as in-person meetings, when some participants can’t be there in the room with us.”

Flexibility, the Council team agreed, is another valuable feature of the new presentation equipment.

“Not only can we deliver outstanding meetings and presentations, but these displays are also terrific when used like a whiteboard,” said Burton. “For example, the Board members like to put a PowerPoint presentation on one screen and take notes on the other screen.”

Annotating directly onto presentation content also comes in handy, he added, noting a recent website redesign meeting where the team was able to highlight and draw directly on the proposed designs.

Beyond the flexibility of features inherent to the ViewBoard displays, the ViewSonic mobile carts enable the Council to use the displays in a number of ways, extending the value of the resource.

“We can use one in each of the main training rooms, or use them together as mentioned,” said Burton. “Then, when they’re needed in another space in our facilities, it’s simple to move them there as well. It’s also handy to be able to reposition them within a room, depending on the seating arrangement and goals of the meeting. We could even use them outside in our pocket park.”

The team looks forward to finding additional ways to leverage their new cutting-edge presentation technology.

“We are so grateful to ViewSonic and The Showpros,” said Burton. “We are getting so much use out of these displays, and we know we’ll keep finding ways to use them, including having more Scouts themselves use them to give presentations.”

The capabilities of their new presentation system outshine anything any of them have seen at other regional Council meetings. While maintaining the humbleness of Scouts, the team is clearly pleased with being a trailblazer in Scouting presentation technology.

“These presentation capabilities are a first for the Scouts,” said Smith. “I’ve worked at several Councils and have been to many Scout meetings. This is the first one to have this level of AV equipment available to its staff and volunteers.”

Gatineau-Based Private School Adopts ViewSonic Digital Learning Solution to Navigate A Changing Landscape

Company

For the Collège Nouvelles-Frontières private high school in Gatineau, the pandemic has proven to be a catalyst for innovation. Like many schools, Nouvelles-Frontières had to quickly adapt its existing technology resources to accommodate a distance learning model. The early months of the pandemic were the ideal starting point for the school to develop an entirely new, flexible approach to distance learning that would serve the students’ and teachers’ needs in both the short and long term. One key to its successful transition was investing in ViewSonic’s interactive teaching platform to improve collaboration, increase engagement and ensure that learning could continue uninterrupted – whether students were in the classroom or at home.

Overview

Problem:

  • The technology they had previously had limited applications for distance learning due to issues around image quality, camera performance and connectivity

Solution:

  • ViewSonic ViewBoard® and myViewBoard™ Software

Result:

  • All requirements were met and/or exceeded
  • School’s administration team can remotely control its displays
  • Students are more engaged and can concentrate more easily from home
  • Mac, iOS, Android and Windows formats accommodate presentations and guest speakers

We realized that providing state-of-the-art tools to teachers would be beneficial in managing future waves of the pandemic and would ensure that we could always deliver quality teaching to our students whatever the situation.

— Serge Lévesque, Coordinator of Computer and Material Resources

Problem

According to Serge Lévesque, coordinator of computer and material resources at the Collège Nouvelles-Frontières, the early days of distance learning were difficult because of technological limitations. When Gatineau went into lockdown in the spring, the school was already using projectors and tablets. However, due to issues around image quality, camera performance and connectivity, the technology had limited applications for distance learning.

“It became more difficult when we moved to combined distance and in-class education, with students at school and others at home,” says Lévesque. “We realized that providing state-of-the-art tools to teachers would be beneficial in managing future waves of the pandemic and would ensure that we could always deliver quality teaching to our students whatever the situation.”

The quest was on to find a platform that met the needs of educators, engaged students and was simple to use. After conducting an exhaustive search of different technology platforms, the Collège Nouvelles-Frontières chose the ViewSonic® ViewBoard® advanced interactive teaching platform.

The ViewSonic ViewBoard® education ecosystem includes platform-agnostic interactive flat panel displays and digital whiteboarding software designed for the rapidly evolving needs of today’s education environments. The myViewBoard™ software platform is full-featured, connecting the school’s students and teachers in a more dynamic and engaging way by enabling real-time collaboration from any location, with cloud-based portability, screen mirroring/sharing and digital whiteboarding.

Today, all classes at Collège Nouvelles-Frontières use ViewSonic ViewBoard displays. Because the technology is wireless, it reduces the need for additional projectors and speakers. “Previously we had a lot of wires, and a lot of technical problems,” recalls Lévesque, who says he appreciates the ability to simplify their systems through a single product that meets all the needs of students and teachers, “The ViewSonic solution replaces everything.”

Optional features include the ability to import files, such as lecture notes, from third-party software. Teachers can also browse the web or open apps directly from the interactive screen, saving time that would have otherwise been spent repurposing content. In addition, educators are empowered to choose the collaboration software they need based on their specific requirements. Using vCast™ software, students can even share content from their tablet or computer onto the classroom whiteboard.

Solution

myViewBoard software supports both Mac and iOS environments and is also compatible with Android and Windows formats. Lévesque says this feature was critical in accommodating the presentations of invited external speakers who use different platforms.

Using the myViewBoard.com website, the school’s administration team can remotely control its displays. Administrators and staff can open, close, broadcast and update content without having to physically move to each room.

In the event of a return to remote learning, myViewBoard will enable teachers to run an effective and efficient virtual classroom. With features like virtual discussion groups and warnings when a student is not paying attention, teachers are able to create a more informed learning experience tailored to students’ needs.

As the year progresses, the administration will also be able to use interactive whiteboards to disseminate promotional material and relevant information during open houses and parent meetings. “We will be able to move them everywhere depending on how we need to use them,” says Lévesque.

Lévesque notes that the interactive ViewSonic learning platform stimulates students and improves their concentration, regardless of whether the teaching is done in the classroom, at home, or across different places simultaneously.

Result

Lévesque adds that the Collège Nouvelles-Frontières is known within the education sector as a leader in integrating new technologies, “It’s always been our trademark, but it has to make sense for students.”

In fact, Collège Nouvelles-Frontières showcases its latest investment in ViewSonic solutions in its recruitment campaigns as a way to distinguish itself from other schools.

Whether the school year is managed in class or remotely, Collège Nouvelles- Frontières is ready for any situation that might arise in the coming year, says Lévesque. “Everyone’s tasks will be optimized with this new technology.”

We were looking for something that would accommodate the school’s reality as well as our expectations, and ViewSonic exceeded those expectations.

— José Luis Salinas, Rector of Colegio Bautista de Temuco

Problem

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chile, like many other countries, sought to protect its citizens via quarantines, school closings and similar actions. As a result, students and teachers needed to adapt quickly to online learning and teaching. In addition, students and teachers needed to learn how to use new technologies that enabled remote education.

Colegio Bautista began looking for interactive displays that could better help its teachers deliver their lessons from any location. Featuring 4K Ultra HD resolution, a responsive 20-point touchscreen, and included myViewBoard® software that enabled teachers to deliver remote lessons, ViewSonic® ViewBoard® interactive displays were exactly what the school needed.

“We were looking for something that would accommodate the school’s reality as well as our expectations, and ViewSonic exceeded those expectations,” said José Luis Salinas, Rector of Colegio Bautista de Temuco.

Solution

Colegio Bautista de Temuco’s administration searched for interactive displays, and the 75-inch ViewBoard® IFP7550 display won them over. The school met with ViewSonic to discuss display features, learn about the myViewBoard software ecosystem that runs on the ViewBoard displays, and find out first-hand how everything worked.

Salinas learned that not only would the ViewBoard displays serve as a great classroom collaboration tool, but they would also help Colegio Bautista de Temuco’s students become more familiar with interactive technologies.

The school installed 15 ViewBoard IFP7550 displays, and trained 72 of its teachers and staff on how to use the displays and the included myViewBoard software suite. The displays are currently used in fourth through eighth-grade classrooms during this first stage of implementation.

12 more ViewBoard displays will be installed in first through fourth-grade classrooms during a second stage of implementation. Furthermore, 15 additional ViewBoard displays will be installed in kindergarten through third-grade classrooms in a final implementation scheduled for 2023.

Result

Thanks to the ViewBoard IFP7550 and the myViewBoard software suite, teachers at Colegio Bautista can record their lessons and annotations directly on the screen, and then easily share these lessons with both in-classroom and remote students. Despite the teachers’ initial fear of the new technology, they’ve found the ViewSonic solution to be easy-to-use, and that it makes lessons more enjoyable for their students.

“It is a real head-turner for students, so it immediately engages them and makes learning easier for them,” said Javiera Larraguibel, elementary school teacher at Colegio Bautista. “For teachers, the solution is convenient, it has great image and sound quality, and it has been an excellent tool and platform for familiarizing our staff with new technologies.”

Javiera also explained that the ViewBoard IFP7550 interactive display and myViewBoard software allow her to easily and dynamically apply different learning tactics including auditory, kinesthetic and visual, to her classroom. This ultimately boosts the attention of her students for lessons that are more effective.

— Dr. Andres Lepik, Director of A.M. Architekturmuseum der TUM

Problem

”Taiwan Acts!” is a visual spectacle curated at the Architekturmuseum der TUM in Munich, Germany. This international exhibition showcases multiple architectural initiatives created after the devastating earthquake in Taiwan on September 21, 1999. The show aims to raise awareness about the role of architecture through social dialogue.

The curators of the exhibit needed to find a way to provide an easy and intuitive installation for an exhibition that will travel across the globe. They also wanted to bring Taiwanese art and culture to an international audience via advanced visual technology solutions.

Solution

The ViewSonic® LD135-152 is a 135” All-in-One Direct View LED Display Solution Kit that provides easy delivery, installation, and maintenance. The pre- assembled, modular design allows for easy setup within minutes from unboxing, while the movable flight case makes for easy transport. With 360° rotational mobility and a built-in motorized height-adjustable stand, this display effortlessly moves through different exhibit layouts, while elevating the curation experience to the next level.

With a huge, bezel-free 135’’ screen size, Full HD resolution, high brightness, and vivid colors, this solution kit meets and exceeds the high quality required within visual arts, creating an immersive atmosphere and engaging visitors on a deeper level, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The preassembled kit lowers the technical barrier for installers, making setup simple and efficient. With just a single click, the large 135” LED display is ready for instant use and comes with built-in power supplies, control systems and stitching machines.

With a built-in motorized floor stand, curators were able to easily adjust the height of the display up to a maximum range of nearly 24-inches with the simple press of a button. Up to four different sets of height preferences can be saved for convenient recurring use.

Result

During the exhibit, various documentaries were played on the massive 135” Direct View LED Display. The museum saw over 30,000 visitors during the exhibit, each of them wowed by the impactful storytelling and immersive visual experience delivered by the ViewSonic display. Over 100 Taiwanese architectural projects were featured, each emphasizing social dialog and engagement including social, economic, humanitarian and cultural topics.

“We’re very happy to collaborate with ViewSonic to prepare this kind of large exhibition,” said Dr. Chen-Yu Chiu, curator of Taiwan Acts! “We used the 135-inch All-in-One Direct View LED Display Solution Kit to play documentary videos showing Taiwan’s urban landscape. It provided a breathtaking viewing experience and simplified the installation time to 10 minutes.”

Because the LD135-152 kit comes pre-assembled, it was quickly installed and allowed the museum staff to focus on the most important part of the exhibit: creating the best visual setup for its visitors. Experimenting with different height adjustments and angles, the staff customized the display according to the exhibit’s objectives and the unique museum space. The ideal position was secured and stabilized with the press of a button.

The Direct View LED Display was ready to go with a single cable plug-in. This reduced the need for multiple cables and provided a cleaner overall installation. Because the kit’s storage space could keep multiple digital files, it granted peace of mind to those managing such a large art event. No additional components or space was required either, maximizing the possible number of visitors. The intuitive use of the display also benefited the museum on a day-to-day basis, by giving operational ease for staff working different shifts.

“I think it made a huge difference compared to exhibitions we’ve done so far,” said Dr. Andres Lepik, Director of A.M. Architekturmuseum der TUM. “ViewSonic’s All-in-One Direct View LED Display Solution Kit really enhances the exhibition space. The audience gets the spirit of the event and is much closer to the artwork with the huge format of the immersive video display. I think that really makes a big difference.”

generous product and apparel support, ViewSonic is working
with us to develop an internship pipeline for CSUDH students,
which will allow them to begin to transfer the skills they’re
learning in esports to the workplace.

— Ruben Caputo, CSUDH Esports Academic Advisor

Problem

The CSUDH esports program began as a grassroots club in 2017 with three student participants. By 2019 it had grown to over 200 members, but lacked a consistent meeting place. For a time, a corner in the lower level of the Student Union became their home, until once again the organization (now known as the CSUDH Esports Association) was bursting at the seams. They needed more space, and they needed more equipment to accommodate growing interest in what has become over a 1.1 billion-dollar industry.

Logistical challenges around space and equipment notwithstanding, possibly the greatest challenge the esports program at CSUDH faced in its first few years was to nurture its growth in a way that would meet the core program tenets set by the administration: academics and research; community engagement; competition, and entertainment, in roughly that order.

“When people think about esports, they think competition and they think about having fun,” said Ruben Caputo, CSUDH Esports Academic Advisor and team general manager, “But esports offers so much more, and we wanted our program to reflect that. First and foremost, we wanted it to provide students with experiences they could readily translate into life skills and career opportunities. Equally important to us was that we spark engagement both within the program and the university, as well as the community at large.”

The objectives below the surface of these four tenets were ambitious.

Under the first pillar, program administrators sought to provide an environment that would promote and enable the development of multidisciplinary competencies, as well as extend their vision of education through esports to other educational organizations. Community engagement would entail fostering a compassionate, multigenerational community rich with community service.
To engage in competition, the program planned to welcome and coach gamers of all experience levels to become a new breed of elite gamers with an appreciation for diversity, healthy living, academic success and life balance. Even entertainment would not be purely for fun – students would directly participate in and develop capabilities around how to broadcast and host high-quality events. Throughout their engagement with these four pillars of the program, student members would develop interpersonal and technical skills.

In the pursuit of these objectives, Caputo and his team encountered both anticipated and unforeseen obstacles, including the pandemic, parental concerns, preconceptions about gaming, and at times the very nature of many gamers themselves. To grow the program as envisioned, Caputo would need to convince students and parents of the many social, academic and career-focused benefits of organized gaming. He would need to find sufficient space, technology and resources to support the group’s goals.

Solution

Looking back over the formative years that led to the CSUDH Esports Association’s third consecutive crowning as the NECC National Gaming Competition champion in 2021, Caputo reflects that the key has been to grow organically. To an outsider looking in, it’s clear that having a passionate advocate like Caputo, paired with strong administrative support, were also prime components of the organization’s success. In 2018, when CSUDH President Dr. Thomas Parham assumed leadership of the university, he and Caputo met to discuss the trajectory of the program, forming the four domains that would guide its ongoing development.

Dr. Parham recalled during a speech at the presentation of the first team jerseys that he had invited potential supporters to consider that, “…gaming…is a strategy not just an outcome. If we can create opportunity through gaming for our students to learn coding, there’s a transferable asset in there to get them through these courses and to get them into that workforce later on once they graduate,” said Parham, adding that, “[esports] is not simply competition, it is about ways in which we as an institution can enhance the lives of our students through gaming.”

The first step toward the program they envisioned, said Caputo, was to explore interest within the university community, which they found to be overwhelming. Next, he brought in faculty from diverse departments to join the Esports Association board and provide multidisciplinary expertise. These 20 individuals now enhance the Association with the unique perspective of fields ranging from computer science, design and communications to marketing, psychology and civic engagement.

The path from there included events and activities to foster dialog with families, community educators, and industry personnel. It was around this time that the organization reached 200 members and received its first official home in the student union, outfitted with a small amount of permanent equipment. The group became more organized, setting up its own Discord communication portal, holding regular meetings and hosting small, casual gaming events on campus.

“Before this, students brought their own equipment with them, lugging in consoles and even monitors,” said Caputo. “With the added stability of our own space, I started to think about how we could get these kids, who tend to be introverted and often shy and reserved, more involved in the processes around the esports industry; to get them problem solving, gaining transferrable skills
and gaining confidence.”

Much of the students’ growth came from the very act of belonging to the club; many had never participated in extracurricular activities and tended to spend their free time gaming alone from home. More learning came from the inherent problem solving and critical thinking required to excel at the games. Even more transformative education occurred as the Association expanded and the students learned to work together as teams, host large events, design promotional materials, program, broadcast competitions, and the many other activities related to the world of esports.

One unique project that Caputo facilitated with the group provided a notable springboard for learning and community building.

“At a group meeting we began talking about the barriers to entry into esports, which can be cost-prohibitive for many students,” said Caputo. “I asked them, how could we lower those barriers and pushed them to do some out-of-the-box thinking. We unpacked the problem without actually using any technology, just sticky notes and a whiteboard.”

Together they dove into the concept of design thinking, while enjoying some carryout pizza. The empty box became their inspiration.

“One student commented that at tournaments you had to bring your own controller, which usually cost around $60, and suggested the idea of making their own, making sure it conformed to the rules but was low cost,” said Caputo. “Another student jumped in and said, ‘Hey, pizza and gaming go together – let’s turn this box into a controller.’ ”

And so they did, market testing their unique controller and a branded model
by surveying fellow gamers. The pizza box won out – whether due to novelty or the added palm space students cited, we will never know. What is certain is that this project helped put the CSUDH esports program into the limelight.

First, a student who worked at Pizza Hut showed the team’s social posts to
their manager, who shared them with the corporate office. This led to a community partnership with Pizza Hut in 2020 that led to the creation of a locally aired commercial.

“The students had the opportunity to participate in the entire process,”
said Caputo. “They worked up the concepts, created the storyboards,
and earned pizzas and pizza boxes to use for more controllers. It was our first mentorship program.”

Next, the pizza-box controller became a showpiece at an alumni event, which was attended by hundreds of parents. It was here that barriers between the Esports Association and families began to crumble, as parents gained clarity about the program and its benefits, recognizing that it was a way for their children to develop passions and skills with a high probability of leading them to job opportunities. From the parents whose children were already participating in CSUDH esports, Caputo heard repeated comments like, “I have never seen my son/daughter be this social before,” and, “They’ve been so much happier since joining the club.”

As the program continued to flourish, its multidisciplinary structure enabled it to add components like health and wellness support, a mentorship program serving local high school students, and professional development curriculum for educators. The program’s efforts and unique focus caught the attention of monitor manufacturer ViewSonic.

“ViewSonic approached us after seeing our social media posts highlighting
the ways in which we’re using esports as a student success strategy,” said Caputo. “Our mentoring program with Compton Unified School District convinced them that CSUDH would be a like-minded partner in developing esports.”

Initial conversations led to a partnership, with ViewSonic serving as the official monitor sponsor for the CSUDH Esports Association, and providing technology and support for career-building opportunities and activities.

Result

It couldn’t have happened at a better time. Concurrent with the ViewSonic- CSUDH Esports Association discussions, the university was in the process of implementing several facilities expansions, including an Esports Incubator Lab. ViewSonic agreed to outfit the new lab with gaming monitors, large screen digital displays, and an interactive whiteboard, as well as to fund team jerseys and other apparel.

“I couldn’t be happier with the ViewSonic team, they are terrific to work with,” said Caputo. “Their vision parallels ours. In addition to their generous product and apparel support, ViewSonic is working with us to develop an internship pipeline for CSUDH students, which will allow them to begin to transfer the skills they’re learning in esports to the workplace. That’s exactly how we want to be supporting our students.”

As the CSUDH Esports Association continues to organically take shape, the Incubator Lab, set to open its doors in the spring of 2022, is destined to become the creative epicenter for the cultivation of ideas, the promotion of student projects, and a showcase for competitive gaming. Caputo looks forward to finding new ways to engage students in the enriching world of esports.

“I’ve had the great joy of seeing so many kids build confidence and competencies through their participation in esports,” he said. “Even those who were once incredibly shy, or had parents who were wary that ‘video games’ are a waste of time. The esports narrative is so much more complex than that. I am thrilled to be a steward of this amazing program.”

— Felix Valer Torres, Mariscal Caceres de Ayacucho School Principal

Problem

Located in the Huamanga Ayacucho District, the Mariscal Caceres School was looking for modern and interactive collaboration and presentation solutions to transform their traditional classrooms into powerful hybrid classrooms. The school also wanted to boost its faculty’s abilities to present content via interactive displays. With that in mind, they contacted the regional government of Ayacucho and requested their support for this sizable investment.

The school has 118 classrooms and was looking to equip them all with interactive displays, including hardware and software, while also developing an advanced training program for their faculty of over 200 members.

Solution

Along with 18 ViewBoard® interactive displays purchased in 2020, a total of 118 ViewBoard IFP7550 interactive displays were installed. Students were able to enjoy more modern classrooms equipped with video collaboration tools that support hybrid learning. The new platform allowed teachers to teach using interactive content through remote, hybrid or fully in-person sessions.

The ViewBoard displays delivered a major upgrade with 4K Ultra HD, or 3840 x 2160-pixel, resolution, which is 10-times as high as the resolution of the XGA projectors that were traditionally used in class (1024 x 768). These displays provided an enhanced surround sound experience in the classroom thanks to their integrated speakers and sub-woofer configuration.

The myViewBoard™ digital whiteboard software allows for the creation of multimedia content through interactivity, artificial intelligence, cloud-based integration and a built-in browser for downloading videos, images and/or text, which enables collaboration and also promotes student acceptance and engagement.

The casting feature can be used to wirelessly stream and present multimedia content from any device (notebook, tablet or smartphone) to the main display through the school’s WiFi or LAN networks. This makes it easy for students to share and present content on the displays from their desks or even from home, thus transforming classrooms into true hybrid platforms.

Result

Tecnologia y Creatividad, an integrator of ViewSonic® visual solutions, trained a total of 209 teachers and assistants in the use of the myViewBoard software. Training focused on topics such as toolbars, templates, the Magic Box, browser and content search, insertion of videos and images, Artificial Intelligence (AI), myViewBoard Clips, original content and more. The goal was for teachers to use myViewBoard as their main platform for content and lesson creation in hybrid learning settings.

The school’s principal, Felix Valer Torres, said that as students gradually return to the traditional classroom setting, this upgraded equipment will be key to encouraging their engagement in both the education process and the development of social skills. “This undoubtedly helps the process of completing a robust academic, moral and emotional training so that students can achieve personal and professional success in today’s rapidly changing society, in which technology plays a critical role,” he said.

Alex Carlos, ViewSonic Territory Manager for Peru, Ecuador and Colombia, expressed his enthusiasm for boosting digital interaction in Peruvian classrooms.

“It is very important for us to have cities that prioritize their investments in education, as is the case of Ayacucho, a modern region that now also recognizes the value of technology in its education proposal,” said Carlos. “We are confident that with our ViewBoard and myViewBoard platform, teacher training programs, and the natural ease with which today’s young people embrace new technologies, will all help to create genuine 21st century learning environments.”

Torres, who managed and led this project, claimed that “This educational institution has become the most technologically equipped school nationwide with the deployment of ViewSonic IFP7550 displays and ViewSonic myViewBoard digital whiteboard software.”
